The School of Byzantine Music
The School of Byzantine Music was founded in 1994 and offers
free tuition to anyone who has an interest in music. It is part
of the main School of Byzantine Music in the United Kingdom,
which is based in Wood Green, North London. The director of the
School is Dr. Panayiotis Procopiou.
The School functions every Saturday for adults during typical
term time from 5pm to 7pm and every Sunday for children between
the hours of 12.30 - 1.00pm. Every year the School sends a number
of it's pupils to the Wood Green Headquarters for the annual
exams where each candidate is tested individually by an external
examiner from Athens. Tuition is completely free, the only fees
ever payable are the administration fees for the annual exams.
At the end of their 6 year (minimum) course of study, students
are awarded a Diploma which is recognised by the National School
of Music in Athens.
